The first Mighty Roo's Kids Club Open Practice
took place on May 25th for members from Western Australia. “Several
emails were received from the Western Australia “Mighty Roo
Kids Club” members who were coming to the Central Coast to play
at the McCrea Williamson”, Ice Hockey Australia Marketing Director,
Rick Williams, said. Within 24 hours, the Bears and Rhinos were willing
to invite these valued members and the Ice Dogs even offered free
tickets to their games on the weekend. “With no Australian Ice
Hockey League team in Western Australia and since the players were
staying on the Central Coast, we had the kids attend the Rhinos practice,
along with local members”, Williams said. The kids had their
pictures taken with the players, got autographs and had a chance to
meet Perth AIHL players Alex Witts and Mark Walsh. Western Australian
players, coaches and parents had another surprise when they were given
raffle tickets for a special Mighty Roos Kids Club draw. Prizes included
Mighty Roo merchandise and 2 Erina Fair $50 gift vouchers.
“It was a very special evening that the kids will never forget,
said Williams. Our gratitude goes to Ice Hockey Australia's Mighty
Roos Kids Club, the AIHL, the Rhinos, Erina Ice World and special
thanks to Erina Fair Shopping Centre”.
Since the event was such short notice for local
Mighty Roo Kids Club Members, the Rhinos will be holding a major “Open
Practice” in July, which will be announced shortly.
