IHA announces WWU18 team for World Championships

Ice Hockey Australia is pleased to announce the World Women U18 team for the 2024 World Championships.

The U18 Women team will compete in Division I Group B against Norway, Poland, Spain, Chinese Taipei, and Korea, in Jaca, Spain – 8th-14th January 2024.

The team will be led by Remi Harvey (head coach) for the first time after a long apprenticeship as assistant. Deon Shearer (team manager), Kayla Best (assistant coach) and Anna Badaoui (equipment manager) will form part of a new look staff for the U18 team in 2024. The experienced Shannon Spencer (physio) will work with both the U18 and senior women teams for aligned services across programs. The team is rounded out with high-performance expert Jane Woodlands-Thompson (Chef de Mission) overseeing the team through her role on the IHA Board of Directors. 

Pre-tournament camp will be held at the Australian Institute of Sport’s European Training Centre, Varese, Italy. The opportunity for Australian ice hockey teams to utilise the AIS facility will bring the finest high-performance environment for the team. The U18’s will use the newly refurbished Acinque Ice Rink, a classic European rink that has recently seen upgrades to the rink, boards, dressing rooms, swimming pool, plus warm up and storage areas. 

Congratulations to the following players named in the WWU18 Division 1 Group B team for 2024.

Head coach Remi Harvey – I’m excited to see what this team can do. We have a mix of new and returning players that have shown a lot of strength and determination, along with the entire group that tried out. I’m looking forward to seeing Reader, Baker and Meissner all return for their second year of world championship hockey with our experienced defensive line up.
