Expression of Interest: 2027 U20 Men’s National Teams – Player EOI Now Open

Ice Hockey Australia is calling for nominations for the National Men's WM20 Team to represent Australia at the IIHF World Championship Division IIB in Belgrade, Serbia from 17-23 January 2027. We are looking for players who have continued to develop high-performance skills, gameplay, fitness and attitude and who believe that they are ready to perform at this international level of competition. All eligible players with the ability, drive, and commitment to represent Australia at the highest level are encouraged to apply.

Estimated Tournament Details: 

  • 8 January 2027: Depart Australia
  • 9 January: Arrive in Europe
  • 10-14 January: Training Camp
  • 15 January: Travel to Serbia
  • 16 Pre arrival day
  • 17-23 January: Tournament
  • 24 January: Depart for Australia

Essential IHA Selection Criteria:
Must be a registered member of IHA and/or comply with the Eligibility Requirements of the International Ice Hockey Federation (details here) Must have a valid Australian passport (in process is valid as long as the passport is obtained three (3) months prior to Departure date). Must be no younger than fifteen (15) and no older than twenty (20) by 31 December 2027*.

Costs:

  • While every effort will be made to keep the costs as low as possible, this is a majority player funded campaign.
  • Once the team is selected, the Team Manager will then outline costs involved and payment instalment deadlines.
  • Instalment invoices will be issued.
  • All fees will need to be completely paid before the commencement of the trip.

*No under-age waiver is permitted as per IIHF Official Rule Book.

EOIs must be submitted through the official online form. All interested athletes should ensure they meet eligibility criteria and submit by 20th July 2026 to be considered.
